Nuffnang's having another blogging contest on fashion sense/being a fashion critic !
so which category are you in ?
HAUTE
ELEGANT
DRAMATIC
CLASSIC
CONSERVATIVE
WESTERN
CASUAL
GRUNGE
FUTURISTIC
the first word i would pick out once i looked through those bombastic [well , some of them are .] words , CASUAL . i dress according to where i go , much depends on the location where i'm heading and the weather .
we all know Singapore is a very HOT country with no four seasons so it sucks to be here , because you can't wear thick clothing to keep yourself from the cold and you can't go to the extreme because we all know Singaporeans like to point fingers and start a topic running , gee .
here's some collages [that i made in the early morning .] to show how i look when i head out for school , events , gatherings , movie screenings , blah blah !
from left to right ; dinner at Botak Jones , Babylon A.D. movie screening event , steamboat session with ex-secondary school brothers , race against with Nico Rosberg event , Chinese New Year visit to facilator's place , Chinese New Year visit to friend's place , town !
from left to right ; New Year celebration , library session for project , Far East Plaza , Changi Airport with FYP mates , movie gathering for Angels & Demons , bloggers' outing co-organized with Hongpeng !
from left to right ; bloggers' outing to Changi Airport co-organized with Hongpeng , race against with Nico Rosberg event , Star Trek movie screening event , Confessions of a Shopaholic movie screening event , a day out with my Angel !
from left to right ; a day out with my Angel , race against with Nico Rosberg event , Nuffnang's blood donation drive , friend's birthday event pub@Clarke Quay !
now you know why i chose casual as my category ? :o i don't really dress up till the maximum unless there's a necessity thus i'm quite a simple going person in a way i wear what i feel to be deemed comfortable . but not till those lok kok lok kok [digusting way] of dressing .
HAHAHA !
with the same ol' places to get my clothes and shoes and accessories and whatsoever , it seems that almost every Singaporean is practically wearing much about the same . they don't style to the extreme like Koreans/Japanese .
another thing would be the craze about Crocs , skinny jeans , leggings , gladiator sandals , FBT shorts&Havaianas . which i would be touching on it , lightly .
now , we move on to the main question for the day ,
no , Singaporeans don't dress badly . generally , Singaporeans dress pretty darn well except for a handful which you can immediate spot amongst the crowd in Orchard Road or Bugis . to be honest with you , appropriate dress codes are supposed to be acknowledged for example ; wearing formal to a prom night , wearing semi-formal for high tea , slippers not to be in town or some sort .
so seriously speaking , Singaporeans don't dress badly . they tend to be more conservative and much of a follower in fact that countries around Singapore have such an influence that Singaporeans won't even step up to it's own style . no wonder got a dish called rojak lah , everything throw and mix only . :o
so here i have my reasons for standing that Singaporeans don't dress badly , they tend to follow the trends being set in other countries and bringing it into Singapore . countries like Taiwan , Japan , Korea , Hong Kong&others which i can't really remember . they are able to affect our dressing style because of the climate changes which are pretty similar so their clothing are more suitable to be worn in Singapore .
on a side note , minority of the Singaporeans dress very DISGUSTING ! they won't care about stares from all ages and genders and continue to dress how they are already dressed . i guess i have to applaud for their courage for their dressing style but till now i've yet to experience one up-close . i guess they think bringing out their own personality is really something but too bad , should take a look at the mirror first before heading out . HAHAHA .

also , local brands in Singapore find it very hard to expand for the fact that overseas brand kept coming in and taking over as the trend setters . Singaporeans can't be trend setters , they are only able to follow . WHY ? when one wears too extreme or too conservative , there will sure one that has an opinion about it and will cause an outrage . Singaporeans mah , used to it already , this is our culture .
yet still , i love the dressing in America ! after finishing 90210 & Gossip Girl and now they are on the break , they have many different styles and clothing because of the seasonal changes . but when they bring in their branding into Singapore , they need to think about the climate here and adjust accordingly . brands like Topman , GAP , Fred Perry , Lacoste , Ralph Lauren&River Island and many others too !
see the difference in their style as compared to Singapore's ?

let's talk about the past craze and present craze yeah . :o i may be wrong because i wouldn't think so much into following people's trend . why follow when you should be yourself and showing your personality ?
firstly , Crocs .
Crocs suck so hard , i think it shouldn't even existed in the first place . wearing Crocs is such a social ostracism . believe it or not , i don't even have one freaking pair of Crocs ! i hate Crocs because i feel they are so unacceptable and wearing them is so retarded . okay maybe kids can be wearing Crocs because they look 0h-so-small and cute . but adults ?! NO WAY .

secondly , skinny jeans .
what is deemed as the past fashion has been brought back to life by Topman and Hennes & Mauritz AB [previously Cheap Monday] ! it gives you the Rock 'n' Roll look but the way Singaporeans wore it , somehow it's like a stereotype for typical ah bengzx/lianzx . :o worst , there are so many colors for skinny jeans in Singapore which makes it even worst . i think the normal ones in grey and black looks pretty sweet . also white [in Korean show F4 !] .

thirdly , leggings .
i don't really know where this came from , probably America and Korea . i have no opinion of leggings actually . it's much of a tights for females and is quite acceptable when the weather is raining in Singapore . apart from that , it replaces skinny jeans for the females and it's quite hip too .

fourthly , gladiator sandals .
in 2000 , there was a movie called "Gladiator" and in 2004 , "Troy" . yes , i'm not kidding ! gladiator sandals was being created thanks to the movies and is now a VERY VERY HOT trend that is rising now . there are two types of it , knee high and basic . it shows a very ancient look yet fitting into the modern dressing style for casual looking . but i've yet to spot any Singaporeans wearing it yet , maybe it's because the areas i'm heading now and then.

fifthly , FBT shorts .
girls normally would have FBT shorts because it's so comfortable to wear but my friend experienced a girl in FBT shorts + flip flops + spaghetti top at Orchard Road ! :o i was like ZOMFG , what a horror . seriously FBT shorts should be kept to be worn at home or during exercise or going to school for any activities . not a fashion statement to be at Orchard Road , totally out of place .

last but not least , Havaianas [a flip flop by N.U.M] .
sorry to be crude , but i'm very biased towards NewUrbanMale . i myself own a pair of Havaianas and i love wearing it ! okay wait , but i don't wear them to town . :o i think it would be out of place yet still , wearing them is much much more better than Crocs . AGREE ? besides , if you have it , flaunt it . my Havaianas 2008 is black with metal gold logo .

now , moving on to next question ,
"What are your comments about people wearing their pyjamas out ?"
seriously , i wouldn't wear my pyjamas out . i don't even have a proper pyjamas , just normal sleepwear ! wearing pyjamas is totally hideous and pretty darn weird unless you are heading near where you are staying just to buy some breakfast or stuffs without boarding the bus or taking the MRT .
HAHAHA , like i said . if you have it , flaunt it . :D but too bad i don't .
so here's how i look in my sleepwear [pardon the hair because ..],

p/s ; photos all taken from Google Image Search !
